Tinea Versicolor

There are the losses that hit you hard........ I was shocked to read the news about Dan Fogelberg.   I remember first listening to his album Netherlands when I was in the eighth grade at camp in South Texas.  We would alternate blaring his album and Steely Dan's Aja over and over, tinea versicolor *and over* on the stereo. Those albums are permanently and I mean permanently, tinea versicolor imprinted throughout all crevices of my brain. From then on it was a love affair like I've never had with any other music.   Of course a few years later he became known with his pop hits like "Longer", tinea versicolor "Run for the Roses" and "Same Old Lang Syne" What I love most however are the other songs that go really deeep. Fogelberg was also a huge environmentalist and activist who cared deeply about the world and what we are doing to it, tinea versicolor and as an artist, tinea versicolor tried to reflect that through his work. Here is one song in particular that he wrote back in the nineties. Says it all. Blind To The Truth In the overcrowded cities where the nights are bright as day You spend your weekly paycheck and turn your eyes away From the crisis we've created with our self-indulgent ways Living like there's no tomorrow, tinea versicolor well that just might be the case Now they're tearing down the forests and the jungles of Brazil Without a second thought about the species that they kill But extinction is forever and still the forests fall And push it ever closer to extinction for us all But you're so... Blind to the truth, tinea versicolor blind to the truth And you can't see nothin Cause you're so blind to the truth, tinea versicolor blind to the truth Now the politicians bicker on the early evening news Pledging their allegiance to whoever they can use The corporate bosses snicker as they watch the profits soar They don't care what they make next month just as long as it is more They take our farms and marshlands, tinea versicolor drive nature to the wall Just so they can build another Goddamn shopping mall And it doesn't seem to matter if they cannot see the stars As long as they can keep on building obsolescent cars They're so... Blind to the truth, tinea versicolor blind to the truth No they can't see nothin' They're so blind to the truth, tinea versicolor blind to the truth But the judgment day is coming Now you cannot drink the water and you cannot breathe the air The sky is ripping open and you still don't seem to care The soil is tired and toxic and unable to provide The clock is running out and there is nowhere left to hide Now there's laws that we must live by and they're not the laws of man Can't you see the shadow that moves across this landThe future is upon us and there's so much we must do And you know I can't ignore it and my friend neither can youUnless you're...Blind to the truth, tinea versicolor blind to the truth And you can't see nothin' You're so blind to the truth, tinea versicolor blind to the truth But the judgment day is coming this was probably his first hit........ Part of the Plan I have these moments All steady and strong I'm feeling so holy and humble The next thing I know I’m all worried and weak And I feel myself Starting to crumble. The meanings get lost And the teachings get tossed And you don’t know what you’re Going to do next. You wait for the sun But it never quite comes Some kind of message comes Through to you. Some kind of message comes through. And it says to you Love when you can Cry when you have to   Await your arrival With simple survival And one day we’ll all understand... May we all come to understand.........
